Lamborghini Revuelto
Lamborghini just announced the successor to the Aventador: the Revuelto, and it is phenomenal.
Italian luxury automaker Lamborghini has revealed the Revuelto, a new plug-in hybrid-electric supercar, which will replace the Aventador as the top-of-the-range Lamborghini product. The car will feature a plug-in hybrid electric powertrain paired with an all-new V-12 engine, making it the first Lamborghini to feature a hybrid powertrain. The V-12 engine, along with three electric motors (two up front at each wheel, the other positioned above the gearbox), will output an astounding 1,001 horsepower. The car will also deliver more power while cutting CO2 emissions by 30% compared to the V12 Aventador being retired.
The Revuelto will feature "electric torque vectoring" for better handling and a 4-wheel drive available in pure-electric mode, where the car will have a range of 10 kilometers or 6.2 miles, powered by a 3.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. The car will be a bridge between gas-powered supercars and an all-electric future. The first all-electric car from Lamborghini is expected to launch in 2028, followed by an SUV before 2030.
Lamborghini CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, said the optimal approach is to pursue a fully-electric strategy in stages, given the direction of the industry and government. Winkelmann said the company has already covered the next couple of years of production with orders, and business has been good even before the Revuelto's debut. After record years in 2021 and 2022, Winkelmann said that 2023 is looking strong too, with an order book stretching out 18 to 24 months.
The Lamborghini Revuelto is scheduled for production in the second half of 2023, and deliveries are expected to start at year-end. The price has not yet been announced. The car is a combination of styles stretching back decades, blending the big-nosed Murcielago with the hips of a Diablo. The scissor doors and wedge shape come from the Countach. The Revuelto's mid-mounted V-12 gets help from two electric motors on the front axle and a single motor mounted to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for a total output of 1001 horsepower. The additional electrification enhances the supercar experience, according to Lamborghini.
